Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2017 Mazda 3 we're gonna be showing you how to install the EcoHitch trailer hitch receiver. But before we get into that, let's take a couple minutes, check this out and make sure it's gonna be right for you. Putting a trailer hitch on the back of the Mazda is really gonna help kind of open up your opportunities on what you're gonna be able to do with your vehicle. It seems like a lot of people put one back here for bike racks and it makes sense. You know, you can put the bike rack back here to free up some space on the inside of the vehicle, but you can use other accessories too, or even pull some small or light trailers around. more

So, here's what our trailer hitch receiver looks like installed on our Mazda3 here. As you can see, it does hang down below the bumper here. But everything has a nice black powder coated finish, which is gonna help it blend in well with the vehicle. It's also gonna help protecting your hitch from rust and corrosion over time, being that it is outside the vehicle on the bottom here. Now here's where our hitch is going to look like once we have it installed. The cross tube is going to be visible. It's going to sit right below the bumper, but it is tucked back a little bit, so the main thing we're going to see is that receiver tube sticking out. Now it is a class one hitch, so it's going to give us that 1-1/4 inch by 1-1/4 inch receiver tube opening, which is going to be really good for bike racks, cargo carriers, or if you're going to be doing some really light duty towing. more

Today on our 2018 Mazda 3, you're going to be taking a look at, I'm going to show you how to install, the Draw-Tite Class I Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver. This is what our hitch looks like when it's installed. You can see, the cross tube is tucked up right next to the bottom of the bumper fascia. It's not going to stick out too far. We're not going to have to worry about hitting our legs, or our shins on it when we're loading and unloading the back of the vehicle, and it maintains a nice clean look. As you can see the cross-tube is visible however it is a round tube design and each end of it does have a light bend in it so it's going to fit nicely with the contour of the vehicle.It's going to have plate-style safety chain loops so it' got plenty of room for different size safety chain hooks. Here's what this hitch is going to look like once it's installed on the vehicle. What I like most about this hitch, is how well hidden it is, and really doesn't add much to the look of your vehicle. It's going to feature the inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter receiver tube opening. Features a half inch hitch pinhole, which is going to be good for securing all off your class 1 accessories. It's got the rolled steel safety chain loops underneath here, which would make it nice and easy to connect safety chain from just about any angle. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Mazda 3 - Curt- Video

Today on our 2012 Mazda 3, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Curt class 1 trailer hitch receiver, part number C11383. Here's what this hitch is going to look like once it's installed on the vehicle. What I like most about it is how far out the receiver tube comes, so it's going to give you plenty of access to use just about any accessory with this hitch. It tucks up tightly to the underside of the facia and this way the only thing you're going to see is the receiver tube and safety chain connection points. This hitch features the 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch receiver tube opening with welded on reinforcement collar to give it a nice look ad also help with durability. Feature the 1/2 hitch pinhole, which is going to be good for securing any of your class 1 accessories. This hitch features a 200 pound max tongue weight rating, which is the downward force on the inside edge of the receiver tube opening here. more

Now we'll go ahead and give you a couple measurements in helping you choose some accessories for your hitch, such as a bicycle rack or cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of the bumper is approximately 4-1/2 inches. From the top of the opening in the receiver to the ground is approximately 11-1/2 inches. Now let's go ahead and install our hitch. To begin with we'll need to remove these two plastic fasteners that help hold the lower fascia in place. We can either use a large flat head screwdriver or a trim panel removal tool. more

From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of the bumper is approximately 4 inches. To the top of the opening in the receiver to the ground is approximately 11-3/4 inches. Let's go ahead and install our hitch. To begin with, we'll need to remove two plastic push pin rivets that help attach the lower bumper fascia to the vehicle. To remove these rivets, a large flat-head screwdriver or a trim-panel tool works. Now we're ready to point out our locations where we'll be mounting our hitch. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Mazda 3- Video

Today on this 2010 Mazda 3 we are going to install part number 11383 from Curt. This is what the hitch looks like on the vehicle to pick out accessories such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground is going to be 10-1/ 4 inches and from the center of the hitch pin out to the edge of the bumper is going to be 3-1/ 4 inches. Next we will show you how it gets installed on the vehicle. The first thing we need to do is remove these two bolts that hold the bumper fascia in place.
